Stanislav Nedkov Profile

Stanislav Nedkov was born in Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria and started training in combat sports at the age of 10. He studied freestyle wrestling at the "Gorgi Rakovski" school in 1991, and got to study under sumo star Kotooshu (Kaloian Mahlianov.) He won a lot of wrestling competitions and championships in this time around Bulgaria and all over Europe. With his wrestling background known all over Europe, doors were starting to open for Nedkov in mixed martial arts. He began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and a year later he won his first grappling championship.

He took his first MMA bout with a few months of his grappling win, and got his first win in under 2 minutes via technical knock out. Over the next few years, according to his website, he took pro and amateur fights, and put together 16 straight wins. On his official pro record, he won 7 pro fights all in regional shows in Shooto/MMA around Bulgaria. 6 of those opponents were finished in the first round, and the other was finished during the second. It was then that Nedkov began fighting in Japan under the Pancrase and Sengoku (World VIctory Road) promotions. He won three straight fights, and finished two of them. One of them being veteran Kenvin Randleman via a split decision which was a decent step up in the quality of opponents he was facing.

After another win in Bulgaria, Nedkov signed a contract with the UFC. However, before his first match he was forced out of the fight because of a knee injury. 48 hours before his rescheduled debut, hits opponent was forced out with an injury and it was too late to find a replacement. He is now scheduled to fight Luiz Cane at UFC 134 Brazil.
